AREAS OF EXPERTISE:

Dr. Sandeep Dahiya is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business. His research focuses on Corporate Finance, Corporate Restructuring, Entrepreneurial Finance, Banking and Financial Institutions. His recent work has examined the benefits of establishing strong lending relationships for banks and their corporate borrowers, portfolio decisions of international funds and, the equity based compensation policies of major US corporations. Professor Dahiya's research has been published in various finance journals, including Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Business, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Journal of Banking and Finance. His paper ``So What Do I Get? The Bank's View of Lending Relationships'' was chosen for the Financial Management Associations' Best Paper Award in the area of Financial Institutions & Markets in 2004. Professor Dahiya also received the Dean's Disntiguished Faculty Research Award in 2007.

Professor Dahiya has taught the core MBA and Executive MBA Corporate Finance courses. He created and teaches the MSB MBA course on Venture Capital and the undergarduate course on Entrepreneurial Finance. He was nominated for the University-wide Dorothy Brown teaching award for two years in running (2004, 2005). In 2007 BusinessWeek Magazine listed him as the favorite business school professor of Georgetown undergraduate students. BusinessWeek's List of Favorite Professors

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

Professor Dahiya spent two years working in the Corporate Finance and Strategy practice of McKinsey & Company , a leading strategy consulting firm. He worked with CEOs and CFOs of Fortune 500 firms in Healthcare, Financial Services and Chemical industries focusing on Valuation, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets and Risk Management issues. He has also consulted for leading law firms on corporate finance issues.

Before getting his Ph.D., he spent 3 years with ICICI Bank., the second-largest financial institution in India with over $38 billion in assets and one of the first Indian companies to be listed on the NYSE (Ticker: IBN). His primary responsibilities included managing lending relationships with leading Indian corporations and arranging project finance for Textile and Energy sector companies.
