Research
Professor Pinkowitz is an award winning researcher
in the areas of corporate cash holdings and corporate governance. His
research has been published in Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial
Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial and Quantitative
Analysis, and the Journal of Applied Corporate Finance. His
article “The Determinants and Implications of Corporate Cash Holdings”, coauthored
with Tim Opler, René Stulz,
and Rohan Williamson, won the 1999 Jensen Prize for
best paper published in the Journal of Financial Economics. His article
“Corporate Governance and the Home Bias”, coauthored with Magnus Dahlquist, René Stulz, and Rohan Williamson, won the 2003 William F. Sharpe Award
for Scholarship in Financial Research, for the best paper published in the
Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Professor Pinkowitz
has been awarded the Junior Faculty Research Fellowship, the Steers Faculty
Research Fellowship, and the distinction of Dean’s Fellow twice. His research
has been discussed in the popular press and was cited in a March 2003 speech
by Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan at the Bank of France
International Symposium on Monetary Policy, Economic Cycle, and Financial
Dynamics. Professor Pinkowitz has served as a
referee for various finance and economics journals. He has served on the
program committee for the Financial Management Association annual meeting.
Teaching
Professor Pinkowitz has taught corporate finance at
both the undergraduate and MBA levels.
