JP DOKE, Inc. - Exporters Extraordinaire

The Effect of the Euro on Our Business

On January 1, 1999 the official currency of the European Union, the Euro, was introduced.  While Euro futures and options are beginning to trade, management at JP Doke, always quite the conservative bunch, has decided that the Deutsche Mark be used for hedging purposes, as the transaction is to occur in Germany and the Deutsche Mark is one of the cornerstone currencies underlying the Euro.

As JP Doke, Inc.  will actually be paid in Euros, we will refer to the guidelines determined by the European Central Bank.  According to these guidelines, 1 Euro =  1.95583 DEM.

In the future, after the futures and options markets have developed further, JP Doke Inc. plans to hedge all exposure in the new currency.
